Dr. Salvatore J. Palumbo is a board-certified neurosurgeon who performs a wide variety of intra-cranial surgery as well as complex spinal surgery. He has advanced expertise in spinal reconstruction for both degenerative and traumatic spinal disorders. He is also highly experienced in the treatment of intra-cranial tumors and other forms of neuropathology. His surgical spectrum includes minimally invasive microdiscectomies to multi-level instrumental spinal restabilization procedures.
Dr. Palumbo is the Chairman of Neurosurgery and Director of Neurosurgical Services at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, NY. He also serves as Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bethpage, In addition, Dr. Palumbo serves as Director of Neurotrauma at Good Samaritan Hospital. He is a fellow of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. He has been appointed Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Other memberships include the North American Spine Society and New York State/County Medical Societies.

Dr. Palumbo was one of the founding members of Long Island Brain and Spine and the Interventional Pain Management Group. Over the past several decades, he has performed thousands of neurosurgical operations. The recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Salvatore Palumbo MD PC has been nationally recognized as a Top Doctor in America as well as Long Island. While practicing in Pennsylvania, he also received the Outstanding Physicians Award, among other professional recognitions.
Dr. Palumbo completed his undergraduate degree at Duquesne University. He obtained his Medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his General Surgery Internship and Neurosurgery Residency at the University of Rochester-Strong Memorial Hospital.
